CAPE TOWN!

HELLLO! I have arrived safe and sound in Cape Town, my plane was delayed slightly but all is well. i'm currently staying at the SASTS lodge (yeah i know it sounds like a venereal disease but hey hoe) and i'm in a room with 4 other girls, who due to accents and communication barriers we have to refer to by nickname none of us seem to remember each others full names haha:
Lee from the Netherlands, Amy from Australia, Keiser (i think that's how its spelt :s) from Finland and Maddie from the UK. theres three guys in our group aswell we have all been mingling and getting to know each other, but it's still early days.
the weather is beautiful, in the early twenties and every myth i have heard about being ridiculously security conscious has been dispelled, thobelo is the SASTS lodge manager (very cool xhosa guy) and he has basically told hus not to be afraid just to be wary, we have been walking around all day by ourselves, unguided had lunch and spent yesterday having a late lunch/ early dinner at the beautiful waterfront which was quite unexpected for a first day. even though there are bars on the lodge windows...it's just a necessary precaution but everyones pretty friendly. so don't worry guys, i havn't been shot yet!
it's amazing how much there is to do here, not only within this orientation week which sees us travel to robben island where Nelson Mandela (Madiba as he is referred to over here) was imprisoned during Apartheid, wine tasting :O and thursday we're having a tour of one the townships which is suppose to be a pretty cool experience. just driving from the airport to the lodge it was pretty crazy to be slapped in the face with the sprawling townships and huts which accommodates communities, craaazy!
me and lee are looking at doing a 4 day tour some time in april of kruger national park, get to see the big 5 and camp out, already we're planning! there's also sky diving and surfing. we have not been to the beach yet so i'm saving my 'envy inducing' ammunition for that!
hopefully tonight we're gonna go out to a bar, maybe do some kareoke and croon a little bit.
laterrzzzz
